Grand Hotel De La Minerve
Five-star accommodation on one of the Eternal City's most fascinating squares
In the heart of historical Rome, located amongst some of the city's most celebrated sights, stands the Grand Hotel de la Minerve, a luxury hotel of the highest calibre set in a magnificent 17th century palace. Originally built as a residence for the Fonseca family, the building has functioned as a hotel since the late 1700s. Due to its beauty, and prime location, close to both the Pantheon and the Parliament buildings, the hotel has always enjoyed a privileged position among the elites of both Italy and abroad. Princess Charlotte of Belgium, Empress of Mexico, took up residence there in 1866, and both Stendhal and George Sand stayed in the hotel while in Rome.
Proudly possessing one of the most beautiful terraces in Rome, the five-star Grand Hotel gives its guests marvellous views of the ancient city, with the 17th-century dome of St. Ivo’s church and the roof terrace of the Quirinale providing a wonderful foreground. Combining opulent luxury with the latest technology, and classical ambience with modern styling, the Grand Hotel de la Minerve is fully equipped to serve the sophisticated needs of all its guests.
Guests enter the hotel through the breathtaking grand hall, formerly the Winter Garden, dominated by a statue of Minerva that rises from the central niche. The hall is framed by ancient Roman columns, and its glazed ceiling allows guests to enjoy the natural sunlight, making it a wonderful place to enjoy afternoon tea. The hotel’s superbly-appointed rooms lavishly pamper their guests and include features such as high-speed internet connections, double glazing and individual air conditioning. There is an on-site fitness center, and four large meeting rooms are available.
Minerva Roof Garden
Serving refined Italian and international specialties, Minerva Roof Garden provides the most elegant of settings in which to enjoy excellently prepared Roman cuisine. Considered by many to be the most superb rooftop in Rome, it undoubtedly provides the best view of the Pantheon in the city. It is open to both hotel guests and external clients, all year round. The hotel’s lobby bar, Le Cupole, also extends to the rooftop and provides live piano music every night.
