The master bedroom includes all high-tech amenities, and the suite includes a butler's room. Other rooms on floors lower down the building are in differing categories, but all share a common denominator of luxury, with all in-room technology, marble bathroom with deep tub, plush décor, down duvets and pillows, tea/coffee maker, in-room safe, and wired or wireless Internet access.
Qin The Spa
Qin The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai is a sanctuary for relaxation and wellness, a retreat from the bustling city, offering discreet and personalised service. Qin, which is pronounced "chin" and means to "affect deeply," has nine treatment rooms, including two rooms for couples. The menu of 37 spa and beauty treatments includes methods based on traditional Chinese medicine. Qin The Spa also provides a private manicure and pedicure room, a consultation space for acupuncture and a separate area for foot reflexology – a staple of Chinese wellness practices – as well as separate men's and women's saunas, steam rooms, hot whirlpools and a hair salon.
The main entrance to the Spa is located on the fourth floor of the Hotel, and it features a wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling lacquered door of aged elm wood, reminiscent of the enormous imperial palace doors common in the early Chinese dynasties. Inside, you enter a discreetly stylish haven of textured black granite flooring, contemporary Chinese furniture and superb objets d'art. Each treatment room has individually decorated, with trigrams based on the I Ching - eight symbols arranged in a hexagonal shape, which signify the universe's eight defining phenomena: sky, earth, thunder, wind, water (moon), fire (sun), mountain and lake.
Qin The Spa has a total floor area of 762 square metres (8,200 square feet), and it includes a retail area supplying exclusive Qin The Spa products. Developed in Indonesia, these products are designed for use with each of the spa's signature therapies.
