Ca' Sagredo Hotel
Classic Venetian accommodation in a 15th-century palazzo on the banks of the Grand Canal
A grandiose 15th century palace, resting on the banks of the Grand Canal, the Ca’ Sagredo Hotel is almost as legendary as the city that surrounds it. Ca' Sagredo has a history that is inextricably linked to that of Venice itself, a city with a unique heritage of architecture, art treasures, canals and bridges. A residential palace originally built by the noble Morosini family, it was sold at the beginning of the 18th century to another aristocratic dynasty, the Sagredos. Due to the family’s deep-seated love for art, the hotel is now a shining example of a superbly maintained ancient noble residence, and it is home to a number of important works of art and architectural details.
A magnificent marble staircase designed by Andrea Tirali dominates the great hall, amidst frescos by Pietro Longhi. Works by 17th and 18th century Venetian artists Sebastiano Ricci, Giambattista Tiepolo, and Nicolo Bambini can be seen in rooms and ballrooms. The hotel has been declared a National Monument, and it is under the protection of The Fine Arts Institute of Venice. Each of the 42 individually-appointed rooms and suites has stunning views either onto the Grand Canal, Ca’ D’Oro, Campo Santa Sofia or Rialto Market. A recent restoration of the hotel was performed purely to further enhance the original features of the Palazzo, as demonstrated by the subtle yet refined elegance that can be perceived in all the rooms. The hotel's L’Alcova Restaurant serves sophisticated Mediterranean cuisine, with unbeatable views. A visit to the Bar L’Incontro is a wonderful way to pass the time, in pleasant conversation with a Bellini in your hand. Ca’ Sagredo is also an ideal setting for luxury events, framed by the magic of the Venetian 18th century. A number of ballrooms are available, with a capacity of about 250 people: Sala del Tiepolo, Sala Amigoni, Sala del Doge, the Music Ballroom and the Portego.
Rooms and Suites
Ca’ Sagredo offers a wide selection of rooms, suites, and junior suites, each individually decorated with exceptional style and quality. The rooms are lavishly designed, boasting tall ceilings, mullioned windows and elegant fabrics, all evocative of seventeenth century Venice. The Grand Canal Junior Suites feature enchanting views of the canal below and are outfitted in opulent shades of brown, cream, and gold. For the ultimate in Venetian luxury, the Grand Canal Presidential Suite offers an unprecedented taste of the lifestyle of a Venetian aristocrat. Occupying the Sagredo family's original main reception rooms, and measuring 100 square meters, the Suite contains impressive stucco work, Murano glass lamps, stylish gilt mirrors and armchairs, and a stunning crystal chandelier.
L'Alcova Restaurant and L'Incontro Bar
For some of the best views over the Grand Canal, you simply must dine on the panoramic terrace at L’Alcova Restaurant. Go for an early dinner so you can watch the sun set, then enjoy quality Venetian cuisine, which is based on local traditions. Known as the natural chef, Bavarian-born Jose Klostermaier, brings a touch of international character to his dishes but remains true to the natural flavours of the produce, selected daily at the local Rialto Market. After dinner, enjoy a glass of wine in the bar, made all the more magical with the knowledge that the famous Grand Canal is just at your fingertips.
