Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi
Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque, or the Grand Mosque opened in 2008, is one of the largest mosques. Standing 85 meters high and stretching for over 22,000 square meters, it is the third largest, and some would say most beautiful, modern Mosque in the world. Inspired by Moroccan architecture, it features 80 white marble domes, more than 7000 meters of artificial lakes, over a thousand grand pillars, gem and pearl-encrusted walls, 24-carat gold floor tiles and the largest chandelier ever built.
The mosque is open to visitors, but we kindly offer you the following tips: Visitors must be dressed appropriately with modest, conservative attire (long sleeves, trousers and long skirts) and shoes must be removed before entering.
Please take note of that admittance to the mosque on Fridays is reserved strictly for worshipers, tours are available Saturday to Thursdays at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
