Botofumeiro’s heavy wooden décor, elegantly outfitted service staff, and somewhat ironic nautical design elements recall a bit of old world grandeur that’s heightened by the dignified clientele of celebrities, politicians and even the King of Spain. Considered by far one of the best seafood restaurants in Barcelona, Botofumeiro specializes in the distinguished cuisine of Galicia, the homeland of owner Moncho Neira. The seafood for the over 100 fish dishes is flown in fresh daily, and is cooked in a number of tantalizing ways: broiled, grilled, sautéed, and in several types of paella. For a more casual dining experience, the bar serves the same food in smaller portions, but with the same dedication and attention to detail.
