Le Square
Corner of rue de Paris/Ave Echoubada, Marrakech
Formerly known as L'Amandier, this walled garden restaurant is now called Le Square and is run by friendly French couple Guy and Nicky. They have replaced the previously garish colour scheme with something much more sophisticated and easier on the eyes: soft yellows and beiges greet customers as they pass through the garden and into the main dining area, or make their way to the outside patio, covered by a mamouni, to eat al fresco.
The menu is Asian-French and dishes are of a very reasonable standard. You can also find traditional Moroccan fare and even sushi (although the latter is not quite as authentic as it could be). If the outdoor tables are taken, the inside isn't a disappointment since the large windows let in lots of light and create a charming, insouciant ambience. It's a quiet, calm place to eat, especially at lunchtimes.
