Restaurant da Fiore
S. Polo 2002, Venice
Chef Mara Martin of Restaurant da Fiore has impressed critics and diners from around the world with her innovative Venetian cuisine. Considered by many to be the best restaurant in Venice, da Fiore is one of only two Michelin starred restaurants in the city (the other is the Met Restaurant). Inside the barrel-vaulted restaurant guests are treated to food influenced by the culinary traditions of both East and West, a tribute to Venice’s past at the crossroad of civilizations. Be sure to book a table on the restaurant’s balcony overlooking the canal, the prime spot in which to enjoy the sublimely prepared cuisine. The menu changes daily based on seasonal availability, but if available, be sure to try the molecche, Venetian soft-shell crabs, or the sea bass in balsamic vinegar. The kitchen is also famed for its raw fish appetizers, and lemon and liquorice sorbet. Over 300 Italian wines are on offer, with a few French varieties added for good measure.
