Juan Mari Arzak is one of the greatest chefs in Spain, and a legend in the Basque region. Along with his daughter Elena, Arzak creates legendary dishes based on traditional Basque ingredients and innovative cooking techniques. His ties to the Basque country and its cuisine run deep, with a restaurant at Juan Mari’s childhood home, originally run as a wine inn and tavern by his grandparents from as far back as 1897. In 1989, Arzak became the first three-Michelin-starred restaurant in Spain, and in 2010 it ranked 9th on the S. Pellegrino World 50 Best Restaurants list.
