Circolo Golf Venezia

Via Strada Vecchia 1, 30126 Alberoni, Venice

According to local legend, a visit from Henry Ford led to the creation of the Circolo del Golf Venezia. Frustrated at the lack of golf courses in Venice, Ford complained to his friend Count Giuseppe Volpi di Misurata, president of the Italian Company of Grand Hotels, who went on to open Venice’s first golf club in 1928. Today the Par 72 course is one of the most challenging in Italy, and certainly one of the most beautiful. Located on the extreme south of the Lido, near the mouth of Port of Malamocco, the course is surrounded by natural beauty, and even encloses an Oasis protected by the World Wildlife Fund. The course is host to numerous international golf tournaments and is famed for its demanding Nine Hole. A blind par 3 built around an 18th century fort, to reach the green one must fly over a front water obstacle. The Golf Academy offers both group and individual lessons for children and adults. The Clubhouse Restaurant serves local Venetian cuisine, and boasts a summer terrace overlooking the 18th hole.
