Tobsil (meaning 'dish' or 'plate' in Arabic) is located deep inside the Bab Laksour area (look out for the signposts for Riad Catalina - Tobsil is next door). It's an elegantly restored riad house owned by Christine Rio (whose grandmother was a chef from Brittany) and her photographer husband.
Tobsil is reckoned by many to be the best eating establishment in Marrakech and, while that may be arguable, it certainly resides in the upper echelons of the city's gastronomic scene. The intimate ambience mixes with the exquisite food and excellent service to create a truly memorable experience. Inside the riad, tables are placed around the plant-filled courtyard, in smaller salons and around an upper gallery level.
Soft music, sensuous candles and liveried staff create an idyllic atmosphere matched by the glorious food - traditional but refined - that bears down on you as soon as you've settled in, and doesn't stop until way after your belly has started begging for help.
