Abu Dhabi, known as the "Garden City of the Gulf," is changing very rapidly, with the Formula 1 track on Yas Island, the new Ferrari theme park, and the developing cultural hub on Saadiyat Island. Attractions include the massive Sheikh Zayed mosque, and the Corniche waterfront which runs for miles. Desert safari and dunebashing trips into the desert are very popular. Inland, there is the ancient oasis city of Al Ain. Above all, Abu Dhabi is a shopping paradise, with several malls, lots of small independent stores, and a couple of souks such as the OId Souk. There are all sorts of restaurants, but only restaurants in hotels are allowed to serve alcohol, and so the nightlife scene is all in hotels.
