Alfie's by Kee
Prince’s Building, 10 Chater Road, Central, Hong Kong
Alfred Dunhill, the distinctly British luxury menswear designer, has joined with Hong Kong institution, Kee Club to create Alfie’s, a bar and restaurant that simply oozes British cool. Reminescent of that elusive old world charm that’s rather rare in post-colonial times, Alfie’s pays tribute to the gentlemen’s clubs of yore, appealing to a clientele with both discreet and discerning tastes. The interiors, designed by architect Gavin Tu in collaboration with KEE founder and Chairman Christian Rhomberg, are warm and inviting, replete with leather and dark wood, accented by soft lighting and red and copper hues. The food here also conveys a sense of home, offering British comfort food with a modern flair, in the style of the gastopubs so prevalent in the motherland today.
Fish and chips, bangers and mash, and Welsh rarebit are on the menu for lunch and dinner every day of the week. Breakfast offerings include the full English breakfast, and the love-it-or-hate-it kippered herring. Alfie’s is open well into the night and is an ideal place for enjoying a post-work or post-dinner cocktail. Wine is provided by Berry Bros. & Rudd, Britain’s oldest wine merchant that is located next door.
