LUXOS has you covered for the perfect summer day in Düsseldorf: a bike ride through the idyllic Rhine valley to the Langen Foundation, a modern art gallery designed by Tadao Ando. The ride is about 15 km, and should take you about an hour. Before you head out, we recommend picking up some lunch at the city’s best bakery, Bäckerei Hinkel, Or, if you fancy something a tad healthier, stop by Laura’s Deli for some superfood. The gallery is located on the Museum Insel Hombroich, a nature park and architecture centre and site of a former NATO missile base, now converted into a cultural venue.

Beach bars abound in Cologne, and they are an enticing way to while away an afternoon, or party into the night. One of the best is about 7 kilometres south of the city. Take your bike and head south along the west side of the Rhine and you can’t miss it. Sandy beaches, gorgeous views, and tempting waters await. Grab a burger at the famed Feuerstein’s nearby or stop by the Metzgerei Schmitz (Aachenerstraße 30) and pick up a picnic lunch before you go.
